Meet Dr. Geil
I'm Dr. Jessica Geil, HBSc, ND, a licensed Naturopathic Doctor, entrepreneur, and mom of two.
I believe that health is more than just the absence of disease and strive to empower those around me to live a more balanced life. Through an individualized approach to health, it is my aim to thoroughly understand my patients' concerns and to identify the reasons why they feel unwell.
With nearly a decade of clinical experience, I help patients of all ages and stages on their path to wellness. While I treat a variety of different health concerns in my general practice, I have a clinical focus in hormone, thyroid, and digestive health.
Women's wellness is my passion and I am committed to helping my patients navigate the challenges and transitions that may arise throughout each phase of life, from menarche to menopause and beyond.
As an evidence-based practitioner I am dedicated to staying up-to-date on the latest research and continuing education courses. I utilize a variety of treatment modalities in my practice and have met the Standard of Practice for Prescribing in ON, which authorizes me to prescribe bioidentical hormones (BHRT), natural desiccated thyroid (NDT), and administer B12 injections, among others.
I see patients both locally in-office in Smithville (included within the township of West Lincoln in the Niagara Region) & Binbrook (within the Hamilton Region), as well as virtually across all of Ontario. I am currently accepting new patients.

my story
I, too, have been on the receiving end of being told that 'everything is fine' despite knowing deep down that something more is off. During my teenage years and into my early 20's, I experienced chronic headaches. Instead of answers and long lasting solutions, I was given temporary quick fixes that merely enabled me to function... which, in that moment, I was happy with but ultimately I knew that I could do more.
After years of just masking the symptoms and having no real explanation for the cause of my concern, I finally took the leap and sought out a different approach. One that I had hoped would expand beyond the limits of our conventional health care system. I found a Naturopathic Doctor who treated me as a whole and not only gave me options but provided me with answers and a comprehensive plan that has yielded long lasting results to this very day.
This personal health journey, coupled with my background in and passion for Biomedical Science, are what fuelled my inspiration to become a Naturopathic Doctor myself.
I have since made it my mission to help patients uncover the answers to their own health struggles by providing in depth assessments with the most comprehensive testing available and use that data to create evidence-based plans that tackle the root of their concerns.
Your wellbeing is my priority and I'm here to assist you along your journey and deliver the quality of care that you deserve.

a different model of health care
Naturopathic Medicine is a unique system of primary health care that is aimed at addressing the underlying cause of disease through the use of both conventional medical diagnostics and natural therapeutics. It emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention by way of individualized patient care and education.
Naturopathic Doctors are highly trained health care professionals with an extensive background in biomedical and clinical science. They undergo a minimum of 8 years of post-secondary education, with at least 4 years spent at an accredited naturopathic medical school. Within their rigorous studies they must complete 3 OSCE's as well as a clinical internship. In order to become licensed they must pass 2 sets of standardized North American licensing exams (NPLEX) in addition to a board exam held through the regulatory body in their province.
Naturopathic Doctors are able to diagnose, order, & interpret standard and specialized laboratory testing and conduct complete physical examinations within their scope of practice. What sets them apart is the types of conditions they treat and the therapies that they use. Naturopathic Doctors take a comprehensive approach to care and consider all angles of their patient's health while working in collaboration with other health care providers.
evidence-based treatments
Your treatment plan will be built upon the following modalities depending on your on your specific concerns. Since every patient's treatment plan is individualized specifically to their own needs, goals, and preferences, no two plans are ever the same.
The 3 step approach
01
Define the problem
Gather all signs and symptoms pertinent to the case during intake including timelines, details, and any other relevant health information
02
determine the root cause(S)
Piece together the 'why' by using information from case history and assessment tools such as physical exams, bloodwork, imaging, and in depth testing
03
address & maintain
Implement a comprehensive short & long term treatment plan aimed at addressing underlying root causes to promote ongoing resolution
