0naturopathic medicine
Naturopathic medicine is a unique system of primary health care that is aimed at addressing the underlying cause of disease through the use of both conventional medical diagnostics and natural therapeutics. It emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention by way of individualized patient care and education.
Naturopathic doctors are highly trained health care professionals with an extensive background in biomedical and clinical science. They undergo a minimum of 8 years of post-secondary education, with at least four years spent at an accredited naturopathic medical school. In order to become licensed they must pass 2 sets of standardized North American licensing exams in addition to a board exam held through the regulatory body in their province.
Naturopathic doctors are able to diagnose, order, & interpret standard and specialized laboratory testing, and conduct complete physical examinations within their scope of practcie. What sets them apart is the types of conditions they treat and the therapies that they use. Naturopathic doctors take a comprehensive approach to care and consider all angles of their patient's health while working in collaboration with other health care providers.

0meet the naturopathic doctor

Dr. Jessica Geil is a licensed naturopathic doctor who is committed to helping her patients feel their very best. She believes that health is more than just the absence of disease and strives to empower those around her to live a more balanced life. By taking an individualized approach to health, it is her aim to thoroughly understand her patients' concerns and identify the reasons why they feel unwell.
Dr. Geil obtained her Doctor of Naturopathy (ND) degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. She completed her clinical internship during her final year of study at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic, which included a special 12-month Fertility & Reproductive Health rotation that focused primarily on helping individuals and couples to conceive. During this specialty shift Dr. Geil further developed her passion for fertility, having received additional training in the field and gaining valuable clinical experience in treating conditions that impair fertility in both men and women.
Prior to attending naturopathic medical school Dr. Geil earned her Bachelor of Science in Honours Biomedical Science from the University of Waterloo. Her devotion to health, science, and caring for others are what inspired her to become a doctor. She has experience treating a wide range of health concerns in her general naturopathic practice, but has a special interest in the areas of fertility, pregnancy/pre-natal care, women's health, hormones, and digestion.
Dr. Geil is licensed through the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO) and is a professional member of both the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND). She has met the Standard of Practice for Prescribing in Ontario, enabling her to administer B12 injections and prescribe bio-identical hormones and desiccated thyroid. She is delighted to bring naturopathic medicine into her hometown of Smithville and always welcomes new patients to her practice.
